Non-Discrimination Policy for Clients

Texas Advocacy Project (TAP) is committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to TAP services, programs, and resources, regardless of their personal characteristics or background. TAP strictly prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, English proficiency, age, or disability in all aspects of service delivery, in compliance with all applicable state and federal civil rights laws, including those outlined under the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and related funding requirements.
 

Policy Statement
This policy applies to all clients, potential clients, program participants, and members of the public seeking assistance or information from TAP.

 

Notice to the Public
TAP communicates its commitment to non-discrimination through multiple channels, including:

  • A public statement on TAP’s website that “Texas Advocacy Project serves all Texans.”
  • Prominent display of federal civil rights posters, including the EEOC "Know Your Rights – Workplace Discrimination is Illegal" poster, at TAP’s main office.
  • Ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility and inclusion in all materials, services, and outreach.
     

Filing a Complaint
Any individual who believes they have experienced or witnessed discrimination while seeking services from TAP has the right to file a complaint. Complaints may be submitted directly to Bronwyn Blake at [email protected].

In addition, complaints may be filed with the relevant state or federal civil rights office, including:

  • Office for Civil Rights (OCR)
  • U.S. Department of Justice
  • Texas Health and Human Services Commission Civil Rights Office, if applicable
     

TAP will investigate all complaints promptly and take corrective action where appropriate.
 

Employee Awareness and Compliance
All staff is trained on this policy during onboarding and must review and sign the Personnel Policy Manual, which includes a comprehensive non-discrimination clause. Ongoing training and resources ensure all staff understand their obligations under civil rights laws.

 

Policy Review and Amendments
This policy will be reviewed periodically and may be updated as necessary to ensure alignment with business needs and industry standards.
