TAP Announces Celia Téllez as Chief Development & Communications Officer

AUSTIN, TX, NOVEMBER 17, 2022 – Texas Advocacy Project (TAP) is thrilled to name Celia Téllez as the new Chief Development & Communications Officer.

Téllez’s background as the Vice President of Program Strategy & Development and Vice President of National Partnerships & Events at the Girl Scouts of the USA, combined with a deep passion for engaging new, underserved, and underrepresented communities, will help to further advance the mission of TAP as it celebrates its 40th year of service. “We are thrilled to welcome Celia as our new Chief Development & Communications Officer,” says Heather Bellino, TAP Chief Executive Officer. “She brings valuable skills in elevating teamwork, cultivating community partnerships and optimizing operations to achieve organization goals. We feel very lucky to have found her and look forward to a successful and invigorating future with her at the helm.”

When Téllez assumes the role, she will oversee the planning, implementing, and evaluating of TAP’s annual and long-term fundraising plans by increasing contributions from individuals, corporations, and foundations. In tandem, Téllez will create and execute comprehensive communications strategies to garner support, engagement, and awareness of TAP’s mission to stakeholders and the general public to enhance TAP’s visibility throughout the state and expand capabilities to serve more survivors.

Téllez most recently served as the Vice President of Council Program Operations & Consulting and Growth Initiatives at the Girl Scouts of the USA. Téllez earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics, with a second major in Spanish from the University of New Mexico where she developed skills in community engagement, business development and strategic partnerships.

Téllez succeeds Interim Vice President of Development & Communcations Kelly Buskirk, long-time employee and Vice President of Grants at TAP.
