Texas Advocacy Project (the “Project”) is a statewide nonprofit, legal organization based in Austin.

Our mission is to end dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking in Texas. TAP empowers survivors through free legal services and access to the justice system, and advances prevention through public outreach and education. Our vision is that all Texans live free from abuse. 

General Description: The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for the organization and execution of the outreach and prevention campaigns of Texas Advocacy Project. This will include recruiting and retaining volunteers for these events at The Project.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Hope Campaigns: The Project has 4 essential outreach campaigns throughout the year; Teen Ambassadors of Hope, Handbags for Hope, Backpacks for Hope, and Hope for the Holidays. The Outreach Coordinator will operate in a project management capacity for these campaigns. They will organize and strategize outreach into communities and organize meetings with Advocacy and Outreach and Development and Communications teams. They will plan out the campaign calendar and reach out to volunteers as needed. Additionally, they will coordinate with the Development and Communications team in organizing press events and marketing materials for these campaigns and schedule social media posts in conjunction with Marketing and Communications.  
  • Volunteer Coordination: Volunteers are an essential part of Texas Advocacy Project. The Outreach Coordinator will collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator on recruiting volunteers for Hope Campaigns and will manage the administrative duties of training and tracking volunteer time. They will organize quarterly volunteer training opportunities for the community, and organize and execute an annual volunteer appreciation event.
  • Travel and outreach: The Outreach Coordinator will attend local meetings, volunteer fairs, career fairs, work groups and training events when assigned to ensure collaboration with partner agencies and recruit new volunteers and community partners. They may also table at statewide conferences, university outreach events, and any conference necessary to promote the Project brand.
  • Record Keeping: The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate records of volunteer contact information and volunteer timesheets and reporting this data to the Volunteer Coordinator.

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, victim services or other related field. Experience as community organizer is a plus. In addition to relevant experience, the Outreach Coordinator should have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, time management abilities, and project planning expertise.  Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with database management, record keeping, and Microsoft Office products. Bilingual preferred (Spanish). Ability to maintain and prepare statistical data records. Ability to travel statewide and lift 25 lbs. Some weekends and evenings required.
