General Description: The Legal Assistant is responsible for assisting the paralegals and the rest of the legal department with administrative work. The primary responsibilities consist of processing mail and basic client correspondence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- File maintenance: The Legal Assistant will prepare, send, and process basic client correspondence. They will e-file pleadings in new and existing cases.
- Record Keeping: The Legal Assistant will scan physical intake packets into electronic files and store/file them as directed. They will then review and process these intake packets into our regular work flow. They will log this work on our case tracking software. They will calendar deadlines.
- Administrative Functions: The Legal Assistant will process incoming and outgoing mail as directed.
Qualifications: Experience as a Legal Assistant strongly preferred. Proficient in Spanish preferred. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions. Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with database management and record keeping. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
