America's Most Wanted will focus its Saturday, February 3rd program on the topic of Teen Dating Violence, specifically on recent incidents in Austin and Texas.
The program includes some graphic dramatizations, but it also includes a sound byte with the Project’s Bronwyn Blake, Director and Founder of our Teen Justice Initiative. Bronwyn is a true pioneer in the response to the need for legal services and education for teens.
Her work combines cutting edge legal strategies with aggressive education and outreach. The show is timed nicely with the 2nd Annual National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week, February 5-9. The Project will participate in a press conference Monday to kick-off the week of awareness, so keep your eyes open for more local coverage highlighting the Project. Other events will include a Teen Assembly at Reagan High School and the launch of the National Teen Dating Violence Hotline on Wednesday.
There will be coverage of local events on Monday's evening news, and the national hotline will be featured on Good Morning America. At a time when more and more teens are seeking our services, we expect the surge in media attention to intensify this trend.
Unfortunately, key seed funding for the Teen Justice Initiative has recently expired.
That means now, more than ever, the Project’s critical programming needs your support. Please make a donation today by visiting our website at www.women-law.org.
You can learn about a variety of opportunities for supporting the Project, including our partnership with the Austin Marathon Foundation!
