My name is Candace Lambert. I am a survivor of domestic violence. As I look forward to spending a peaceful holiday season with my family, I cannot help but reflect on the challenges that have brought me here and the help that I received in my journey from "victim" to "survivor".

Thanks to the services I received at Texas Advocacy Project, my children will go to bed on Christmas Eve in eager anticipation of the wonders of Christmas morning. They will awake in a house without fear. We owe that to the attorneys who helped us. In fact, we owe our lives to Texas Advocacy Project.

You see, the skilled and compassionate lawyers at the Project not only taught me how to keep me and my children safe, but they provided me with the long-term solutions (the legal solutions) to stop the violence.
