March is Women’s History Month, and Women’s Advocacy Project is taking the opportunity to kick off its 25th Anniversary Celebration by announcing some exciting changes. As of March 1, we have become Texas Advocacy Project, a new name and complete branding identity that more accurately reflects our diverse client base as well as our statewide presence. Please visit our new website at www.TexasAdvocacyProject.org to find out more about this milestone, and consider making a birthday contribution to the Project! Our name isn’t the only thing that’s changing. As part of our re-branding campaign we have created a new electronic newsletter tool to keep you, our supporters, informed as to the happenings and initiatives here at the Project.
We are excited about this new communication tool, so look for updates on a regular basis. While these changes are very exciting, the timing is also important.
We are launching during Women’s History Month to reassure everyone that our dedication to serve women is unwavering. We acknowledge that women make up a large percentage of the victims of domestic violence and sexual assault; the change does not ignore that fact. Please read further to learn more about Women’s History Month. March has been recognized as Women’s History Month since 1987.
It is astounding to think that less than 200 years ago women were not allowed to vote, own property, pursue advancements in education, or even speak publicly. Yet thanks to “rebellious” history makers like Susan B.
Anthony, Harriet Tubman and Betty Freidan (to name a few), today women are able to enjoy civil rights and successes that were once forbidden. But it’s not just these famous “history makers” that have helped pave the way to equality. There are also women who quietly influence our society in positive ways every day. They are our sisters, our moms, our partners… they are business owners, teachers, politicians, and volunteers.
Why not honor a special woman in your life this month by making a donation to the Texas Advocacy Project in her name? ‘The Project’ is dedicated to providing free legal services to women (and men) that have become victims of domestic violence. We are the only statewide non-profit that provides a service statistically proven to permanently stop the trend. Help us celebrate women’s history and freedom by empowering victims in need through your contributions. Honor someone special in your life today with a donation to the Texas Advocacy Project!
